Intro to Abreva Side Effects
I don’t personally have anything against Abreva®, but as with any drug, there are side effects, and you can avoid all those if you find a natural treatment for cold sores. Should side effects occur, they are usually minor, but they may require additional time and effort by a healthcare provider, or they may require no treatment at all.
Since Abreva is available without a prescription, it doesn’t have the same rules that prescription drugs do. One of those rules is to list all the side effects. Since those effects aren’t listed, let us list for you what they are.
Best Known Abreva Side Effects
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, also known as the FDA, a clinical study determined the following side effects:
- Headaches occur in up to 12% of users
- Painful menstruation in up to 3%
- Nasal congestion occurs in up to 2%
- Infections occur in up to 2%
Alternatives to Having to Live with Abreva Side Effects
If you were able to find a natural treatment for cold sores, then you wouldn’t have to worry about these side effects. Natural treatments would include a change in diet, lifestyle, and habits, all of which would aim to prevent the occurrence of the fever blisters. Then there are also household items that can be used to treat the sores at home without purchasing new items. They are cheap, and you may already have them around the house.
